JAMES MARTINSON BIO
James Martinson’s thirty years’ work as a photographer has evolved from earlier portraits, landscapes, and macro images to urban street photography. While working in Seattle, he would take his camera out during lunch to capture his urban environment in unique ways.
Sometimes confused with photojournalism, street photography differs in not being obligated to illustrate or tell a story, but to capture a moment in pure imagery where no rules exist.
James still enjoys photographing a well-framed sunset, but feels that unique creativity cannot exist with imposed limits. His is a genre of photography that doesn’t yield wide attention or quick fame, but as he says, “Sometimes swimming against the current makes you stronger”
